Diploma
In Law
The Diploma in Law provides an opportunity to
reach the first-year undergraduate level both for students who satisfy the
normal University entrance requirements for the LLB degree, but who choose not
to register for the degree, and for those who may not have had the chance to
meet these requirements, but can demonstrate that they have the ability,
motivation and maturity at this level. The structure of the Diploma in Law is the same as the first year of the LLB degree.
To undertake the Diploma in Law, you will be
required to attend an appropriate course of instruction at an institution,
which is permitted to teach the Diploma in Law by the Middlesex College of Law is one of only four colleges in the United Kingdom currently permitted to teach the University of London Diploma in Law.
The Diploma in Law
can only be studied by students at a designated institution, such as MCL.
Attendance at such an institution is compulsory. Once a
student has successfully completed the diploma, the student may transfer to
Part 1 or Year 2 of the LLB degree. Full details of arrangements for transfer
are given in the Regulations for the LLB degree.
Successful Diploma students who have obtained
very high marks and have taken the necessary subjects may be considered by a
number of British Universities for entry as internal students into the second
year of degree programme. Entry Requirements:
Students wishing to apply for the Diploma must be 18 years of age before 1st September
in the year that they register
with the
University as an External student for the Diploma.
All students are required to undertake a short aptitude test on arrival at the college. The test involves applying a set of
legal regulations to a problems. It does not require knowledge on the law. Rather, it requires fact management, analytical and writing skills. English Language requirements: (one of the following)
A GCSE pass in English Language.
